    Overview:

    Achievers has an immediate opening for a senior attorney at its Toronto, Ontario office. This position will oversee Achiever’s global legal strategy, commercial matters and merger and acquisition activity. This position is situated in Toronto and reports to the Blackhawk Network’s General Counsel.

    The preferred candidate will have at least 10 years’ relevant experience leading at a high growth company, preferably technology, and have experience in managing legal work in international markets. This position requires a business leader with excellent interpersonal skills who enjoys working in a collaborative environment.  We are looking for a great teammate who is dedicated, detail oriented, and passionate about the global growth of Achievers’ platform and services.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee and manage a team of lawyers and contract managers located in Toronto and the US to support Achievers rapidly growing global business
    • Interface effectively with executive management as a trusted strategic partner
    • Lead efforts to comply with legal and regulatory requirements, and revise contract forms to meet market and regulatory requirements
    • Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial contracts
    • Key partner to support sales teams, in collaboration with key stakeholders, in a manner consistent with applicable law and corporate risk tolerance
    • Ensure the sufficiency, alignment, and efficient allocation of legal resources and manage the Legal Department's performance against companywide and interdepartmental metrics
    • Promote continuous efficiency, quality improvement, leadership development, and professional development
    • Lead legal efforts with mergers and acquisition activities and integrations
    • Balance leadership and management responsibilities with the active legal practice of a highly effective senior lawyer

    Qualifications:

    • 10 years’ relevant experience including at least 5 years leading legal operations at a high growth company
    • 5+ years people leadership experience
    • JD required
    • Member of the Law Society of Ontario
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
